Press Release
Feb. 4, 2008

It may be hard to believe, as we experience the chill of winter, but plans are well underway for the 102nd Roseau County Fair. The Roseau County Agricultural Association has been working hard to secure new attractions for this year's fair, which is scheduled for July 20th - 25th. A grandstand performance by America's favorite music and comedy duo, Bruce Williams & Terry Ree (often referred to as "The Indian and the White Guy") is one of the new attractions to look forward to. These two combine pop culture trends into a fast-paced, lively show, full of zings, interspersed with songs. This comedy team has what it takes to get an audience going during each of their zany shows. Other grandstand events scheduled for this year include DMC Motorsports, Antique Tractor Pulls and a long time fair favorite, the Demolition Derby.

Once again, Steven's Amusement of Fayettville, Arkansas will provide the fair's midway attractions. They will be adding at least two new rides, and hope to bring bumper cars back to the midway this year. A few steps from the midway, you can experience the very best that Roseau County has to offer in livestock, creative arts, farm products and school projects. During your visit to the fair, you will also want to attend the 4-H horse pleasure classes and games in the arena .

Members of the fair board recently attended the 2008 Minnesota Federation of County Fairs Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul where they attended tradeshow and vendors exhibits to get ideas for future fairs. The group took advantage of workshops on Fair Promotions and Marketing, Free Stage Entertainment, Ride Safety Legislation, Fund Raising, and Electrical Regulations.

“Roseau County is lucky to have one of the strongest fairs in the state. We’ve enjoyed a long history of county wide participation in the fair and strong support from local business and industry,” states Buddy Erickson, board secretary. A new marketing campaign has been set for the 2008 fair and offers opportunities to reflect on the memories of fairs gone by and plan for the excitement of the fair to come. During the next few months, keep an eye out for Fair Up-dates and a new Fair Trivia Contest in your local newspaper. Here, you can test your knowledge of fun fair facts and history, and have a chance to win a free Week-Long Grandstand Pass to the 2008 Roseau County Fair. The Roseau County Agricultural Association invites you to be part of your county fair this year!
